Ajay Devgan (born Vishal Veeru Devgan on 2 April 1969), also credited as Ajay Devgn, is an Indian film actor, director and producer. He is widely considered as one of the most popular actors of Hindi cinema who has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films. He has won numerous awards, including two National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. In 2016, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour of the country.
Devgan began his professional career with Phool Aur Kaante in 1991 and received a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance.[9][10] He then starred in successful films such as Jigar (1992), Dilwale (1994), Suhaag (1994), Naajayaz (1995), Diljale (1996) and Ishq (1997). My Gut Feel and comments:
“Man wanted a home, a place for warmth, or comfort, first of physical warmth, then the warmth of the affections.” ― Henry David Thoreau, Walden
Above quote sums up the story line of Shivaay as it’s a journey of a man fighting for his family and getting the love in bits and pieces.
Shivaay, going by its promo can be perceived as a typical action film however as per actor director Ajay Devgn it’s an emotional drama. Ajay is a sensible actor and proved his mettle as a director through his directorial venture “U Me Aur Hum”.  Although first half of that movie was not effective however film picked up well in the second half.
Going by the interviews I have seen of Ajay, he seems confident about his offering and seems to have delivered a decent movie with its share of high points beat in action department or emotional scenes. Over all I think it’s a tricky project and chances of going it off track is quite high. Length of the movie is a concern area for me. Holding audience for more than two and a half hour is a daunting task. It’s going to get tough completion from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which is releasing on same day.
Being on a pessimistic side; I am giving Shivaay 2.5 stars out of 5, two days before the release.
