Story line: This movie is based the story of a man who lived, laughed and loved just like everyone in this world. Until one day, a terrible tragedy struck. Driven by the fire of vengeance, nothing will stop him. Film Kaabil is about a blind guy who takes revenge of his girlfriend’s brutal rape and murder. The story is uncannily similar to Salman Khan’s shelved film Buland.
Know more about the captain of the Ship, the director: Sanjay Gupta started his career with Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994) starring Aditya Pancholi and Sanjay Dutt. Later he went to write and direct films including Ram Shastra, Khauff and Jung. The filming of Jung (2000), lasted over two years. Gupta and producer Satish Tandon had a dispute about the release of the film, with Tandon pushing for a release while Gupta wanted Sanjay Dutt to re-dub some lines, which Dutt was refusing to do.
While filming Kaante in the Los Angeles in 2001, the events of the 9/11 attack forced the film to relocate planned scenes from several areas that were then considered sensitive. Commentators noted a similarity in Kaante to Quentin Tarantino’s film Reservoir Dogs. Gupta says that he was “inspired” by a number of other films as well, including The Asphalt Jungle, The Killing, and the film that inspired Reservoir Dogs, City On Fire. Gupta’s Zinda (2006) has been described as an unofficial remake of the Korean film Oldboy. He also produced the films Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), Dus Kahaniyaan, and directed and co-produced Shootout at Wadala the sequel to Shootout at Lokhandwala.
My Gut Feel and comments:
To be blind is not miserable; not to be able to bear blindness, that is miserable. : John Milton
Sanjay gupta teaming up with Rakesh Roshan’s production house itself is an interesting combination and I am sure with Kaabil them as a team delivered a decent movie. The storyline is interesting, Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam are looking great.
Sanjay gupta is a capable director who can handle the difficult project like Kaabil well. Going by the trailer and multiple interviews I have seen of the complete creative team I get the sense that as a team they put best foot forward and worked very hard on this difficult script.
The storyline is quite clear from the promo however the overall presentation and narration would be the USP of this film.
Raees is also releasing tomorrow which will give tough competition to Kaabil at box office however content wise I am sure Kaabil would be better movie then Raees.
Going by my gut feel I am giving 2.5 stars for Sanajay gupta’s direction and additional point five stars for film backing by Rakesh Roshan. Overall 3 stars out of 5 for Kaabil one day before the release.
