Premise: Advait visits Goa where he meets Sara, a free-spirited girl who lives life unshackled. Opposites attract and all goes well until life turns upside down. Years later, Advait is on a killing spree with cops Aghase and Michael in his way.

Before venturing into film direction, Mohit worked as an office assistant for T-Series, and as an assistant director to Vikram Bhatt. He started his career as an assistant director, and made his debut as a director with the 2005 film Zeher which was a moderate success. He followed it up with Kalyug, which was both a critical and commercial success. His third film Woh Lamhe (2006) did well and received critical acclaim. His next film Awarapan (2007) was both a critical and commercial success. It was a copy of the Korean film ‘A Bittersweet Life’ from 2005.In an interview given to Radio Sargam, Mohit said, “I am very critical about my own work. I would never ever go out and say that I have made a masterpiece. I just give my best and hope that it’s good enough. “His preceding film Crook, an action thriller based on the racial attacks on Indian students in Australia was released in 2010. Murder 2, which turned out to be a Blockbuster, a sequel to the 2004 film Murder was released on 8 July 2011. In 2013, he directed Aashiqui 2 which was a blockbuster. In 2014, he directed Ek Villain which ran successfully and went past the 1 billion mark at box office. In 2015, he directed his next movie, Hamari Adhuri Kahani. He worked with Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the movie Half Girlfriend as a director which is based on a famous novel by Chetan Bhagat. The film was a commercial success. Most of his films are produced by Vishesh Films and star Emraan Hashmi and Shraddha Kapoor. All his films have background score composed by Raju Singh and most of his music comes from Mithoon.

The way I comprehended the trailer is that Disha Patani’s character moves out of the frame by interval and do returned the scene by climax, I might be completely wrong but this is the way trailer has been edited. Keeping Mohit’s last directorial venture Half girlfriend aside as an exception, he has delivered good movies. In his recent interview he did mentioned that Half Girlfriend and even Hamari Adhuri Kahani were bit outdated plots and he missed the trick. With Malang he seems to be back in form with the fast-paced thriller where chances of him going drastically wrong is quite less. Film is backed by LUV Ranjan as one of the producers along with Bhushan Kumar. At trailer launch complete team seemed confident and excited about Malang.   Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Khemu, all of them are looking refreshing in their respective roles. Trailer has been edited smartly enough and not releveling much and  has been received well by the young target audience. Music of Malang are all original scores and refreshing as compare to recent time’s trend of going for remixes of old Bollywood numbers.

Going by My Gut Feeling (MGF), I am giving Malang 2.75 stars out of 5 two days before the release and hoping that Mohit the passionate film maker does a remarkable come back with a deserving hit.
